BACKGROUND
Claude Laurent Bérubé wasn't a child anyone wished for. Born seven and nine years after his two older sisters, Céline (current age: 32, photographer) and Catherine (current age: 34, artist), his parents had settled with "no more kids" when Marie-Camille Moulin (current age: 58), up and coming French politician, found out she was pregnant again. Claude's Canadian father, Laurent Bérubé (current age: 60, photographer), initially agreed to go through with the pregnancy, but during the nine months it took Claude to make it into the world, he started an affair with a business associate and would, less than two years after Claude's birth, move back to Montreal with her, divorcing Marie-Camille and leaving her alone with three children in the age range 1-10. A task that Marie-Camille took upon herself with great determination, managing the rare balance of being a professional, hard-working woman and a loving, mostly-present mother. Claude admires his mother for many reason, but this takes the cake.
Deciding early on that he wanted to be a politician and "change the world" like his mother, delegate to the National Assembly for the Centre-Liberals, Claude put his all into school and aced through his classes, until he was enrolled in lycée, French high school, age 15-18, where his dedication crumbled for the first time ever, due to meeting his French teacher, Rainier, whom he'd have a secret affair with between the ages of 17 and 18, until his mother found out and threatened to take legal action against the man. Although Claude understood her worry, he was a typical, obstinate teenager about it and this affair would leave some dents in their otherwise loving mother-son relationship. Rainier dutifully decided to resign from Claude's lycée, finding work elsewhere while Claude finished his secondary education.
He would go on to study political science and philosophy at university, recently finishing his thesis on the role of privilege in legislation, simultaneously with running for a seat at the National Assembly as one of its youngest members, a delegate for the Socialists. Is well-known as his mother's son and he is pleased to finally work the same halls and hallways as her, their personal relationship still a little bit unsteady but their working relationship firm.
Claude is openly gay and a devoted feminist. At this point, he's 25 years old, single, not looking... Well, not for romance, at least, but sometimes these things find us regardless.
