[ The house is quiet, 40's style jazz wafting through the living room. Edmond has, more or less desperately, grabbed the opportunity to give her some time alone with Claude and his -- guest, boyfriend, plus one he called him in his text message, going outside to fix the Christmas lights that have been blinking at weird intervals the past two days. After hearing from Claude, Camille had been very busy trying to figure out which newbie in Parliament was called Jean Louis without a hyphen and had, for obvious reasons, come up empty-handed. Because the Jean Louis Claude has brought with him to his family's humble Christmas dinner is Jean Louis Girard, new Foreign Minister of Luxembourg.

He could've aimed lower, presumably. However, sometimes a bar isn't the measuring tool people make it out to be, and maybe we shouldn't go higher, but better.

Taking the tray with aperitifs (flutes of Dom Perignon, there's soda for the kids when they get here), she walks over to them and holds it out, smiling slightly, first at Claude (wider) and afterwards, his plus one (less wide), waiting for them to help themselves. Fixing Jean Louis with a gaze, she raises her chin.

Claude has never brought a boyfriend home before. As in, quite literally, never. Is this a stamp of quality? Is it not? ]

Did Claude lead a protest rally against one of your election conventions or how did you two meet?
